About

One person, and he answers the phone.

Our Cradle is a studio of one. That is the reason work gets done carefully and the reason we only take a few projects at a time.

Tomoki Cheung · Owner

Hi, I’m Tom.

I run Our Cradle out of Honolulu. Before this I built and ran a small ecommerce company: I negotiated with overseas suppliers, managed my own inventory, wrote my own ads, and learned firsthand how fast a monthly platform fee eats a thin margin.

That is the perspective I bring to client work. I have sat on your side of the invoice. When I tell you a service isn’t worth paying for, it’s because I have paid for it.

Most business owners don’t want to learn what DNS is, and they shouldn’t have to. I set up the accounts, handle the migration, write the documentation in language you can actually read, and hand you the keys, or keep holding them if that is what you’d rather.

I’ve moved a client off a paid ecommerce platform without downtime or a change of web address, built a bilingual site from one codebase rather than two, and handled the domain, certificate, and security configuration behind both. Each one taught me something I got wrong the first time.

I work in English and Japanese, and I’m building this studio deliberately slowly, one client at a time, in a place where your reputation is the only marketing that matters.

I build with AI tools and I’m direct about that, because it changes what you get. It lets me take on work that would otherwise be beyond me at this stage. It also means the checking matters more, not less, so I verify what I hand over rather than trusting that it works because it looks like it does.

How I work

Three things I hold to.

The price is the price

Quoted in writing before the work starts, with the scope written next to it. If something falls outside that scope, you hear about it before it is built, not on the invoice.

You can always leave

Your site, your domain, your accounts. Nothing is built in a way that traps you. If you want to take it elsewhere, I will help you move it and hand over the documentation.

I’ll tell you when not to buy

If your business doesn’t need a feature, I’ll say so, even when it costs me the add-on. A client who trusts me is worth more than one extra line item.

The name

Why “Our Cradle”.

A cradle holds something safely at the beginning, until it can stand up on its own. That is the shape of the work: I hold the accounts, the hosting, and the complexity while your site is getting started, and I hand it over when you’re ready.

The mark is a crescent around a star: something small and bright, held.

Let’s talk about your business.

A short email is enough to start. If it turns out I’m not the right fit, I’ll say so and point you somewhere better.
